The Auburn Corps provided 5,500 nights of shelter and prevented homelessness to 184 individuals in 2016.
About 15% of the homeless population in the U.S. is comprised of 'chronically homeless' individuals.
This population is especially vulnerable during the hottest and coldest months of the year.
Auburn Corps Social Services Director, Michelle Fish, speaks to her experience working with Salvation Army since 1991: "The hugs and the tears when peoples' hearts are broken by kindness and compassion. When people say 'I couldn't have done it without the Salvation Army. The genuine gratefulness. These are my best memories."
Some of our 2015 stats:
Lodgings at Salvation Army facilities: 2
Lodgings at non-Salvation Army facilities: 50
Housing Assistance orders provided: 3,955
Utilities Assistance cases: 146
